Heading to Vegas: A Marathon Journey Begins

Las Vegas, a city known for its dazzling lights and endless entertainment options, offers a unique backdrop for one of the most exciting events in my running calendar—the Las Vegas Marathon. My journey to this iconic race began with a travel day that was surprisingly smooth and rejuvenating, setting the tone for the adventure ahead.

The Flight: Preparation is Key

Travelling can be daunting, especially when you're gearing up for a marathon. However, my travel day to Las Vegas was unexpectedly smooth. I stayed well-hydrated with water and electrolytes, understanding the importance of arriving in tip-top shape. Despite the early morning wake-up call, I got some sleep on the plane, a welcome respite that helped me feel refreshed upon landing.

Interestingly, despite dealing with daily back soreness for the two weeks leading up to the trip, I felt good throughout the day. My hamstrings, which typically protest during longer flights due to prolonged sitting, were surprisingly cooperative. This unexpected comfort added a layer of optimism to my marathon anticipation.

The Expo: A Night to Remember

Upon arrival in Las Vegas, my first stop was the marathon expo, which did not disappoint. With a captivating night theme, the expo was an immersive experience that transported me into the world of running under the Vegas lights. The excitement was palpable, with runners from all walks of life coming together, sharing stories, and picking up their race packets.

The expo also offered a glimpse into the latest running gear and innovations, making it a perfect spot for last-minute purchases and inspiration. The energy was infectious, fueling my excitement for the race ahead.

Fueling Up: A Healthy Pre-Race Lunch

Understanding the importance of proper nutrition, I opted for a healthy lunch to fuel my body for the race. Las Vegas offers many dining options, but I prioritized finding a meal that balances taste with nutrition. The meal was delicious and provided the right mix of carbs, proteins, and fats, ensuring my energy levels were optimized for race day.

Rest: Charging Up for the Big Day

After a fulfilling day, I returned to my room for much-needed rest. The race, set to start on Sunday at 4:30 PM, requires physical and mental preparation. This quiet time allowed me to reflect on my training, set my goals for the race, and visualize the course.

The anticipation is building, and I'm excited to take on the streets of Las Vegas. Running a marathon in such an iconic city is a dream come true, and I can't wait to share my experience with you all. Stay tuned for the race day update, and wish me luck!
