How Running to Work Is Fueling My Marathon Dream and Professional Passion

As Dr. Cary Yurkiw, a dedicated health coach, seasoned health professional, and insightful author, my days are a blend of personal discipline and professional dedication. With the Vancouver Marathon on the horizon this May 5th, my unique training approach of running to and from work isn't just about hitting those extra miles; it's a testament to my commitment to health, wellness, and life's endless possibilities.

A Challenge Beyond the Race

Following the adrenaline rush of the Las Vegas half marathon in February, I was on the lookout for my next big challenge. The answer came in the form of my daily commute. This decision to run to work was about more than training; it was about making every minute count, perfectly aligning with my ethos as a health coach and business consultant at True North Coaching.

The Path Less Traveled

Adjusting my routine was necessary to accommodate these runs. Early mornings became my new norm, as did strategic planning to ensure the most scenic and safe routes along bike paths and walkways. These adjustments, while minor, were pivotal in staying committed to both my training and my work.

Overcoming and Adapting

Transitioning to this new routine wasn't without its hurdles. The balance between early runs, client sessions, and writing required a disciplined approach to time management and logistics, particularly in ensuring that my professional attire and essentials were ready for the day ahead.

The Ripple Effect

The benefits of this journey extend far beyond physical fitness. On a personal level, it has bolstered my confidence in my ability to tackle long-distance runs. Professionally, it underscores my belief in the transformative power of movement and wellness, principles I advocate for in my coaching and consultations.

A Beacon for Health and Activity

This personal challenge has sparked curiosity and inspiration among my peers and clients. It stands as a living example of how integrating physical activity into our daily routines can have far-reaching benefits, not just for our health but also for our professional and personal lives.

Gear, Nutrition, and Expertise

Embracing the dual demands of different weather conditions has been an exercise in precision—much like tailoring wellness and business strategies for my clients. This experience has also reinforced the importance of hydration, electrolyte balance, and a tailored nutrition plan, aspects I delve into with clients at True North Coaching.

Inviting You to Start Your Journey

To those intrigued by the idea of melding personal goals with professional growth, I extend an invitation to start your journey. Whether it’s finding the balance between training and work or integrating wellness into your business strategy, there’s always a path forward.

Looking Ahead

As I approach the Vancouver Marathon, my goal is clear: to complete the race with joy and gratitude. This endeavor is more than just a personal milestone; it's a reflection of my commitment to health and wellness, both as an individual and as a professional at True North Coaching.
